To create zip files, you need to select a group of files, right click and select "Send to" - "Compressed (zipped) folder".

First of all, to zip files you need to install WinRAR. This software offers a wide range of options besides of the built-in Windows Compression Tool. To download it, visit

Once you installed WinRAR, select files that you want to be zipped, right click and choose "Add to archive..".


Now you can see the WinRAR Archive Properties:


It is recommended to use a ZIP extension and not RAR. Why? Because most of all upload softwares or apps only supports zip files.

What Compression Method should I use?

There is no big difference between those methods, but here are some things you need to know:

  • The Normal Method Compression is the best option when creating zip files. You win time and space.
  • The Fast Method Compression: you win a lot of time, but no file size saving on the zip files.
  • The Best Method Compression: some file size saving on zip files, but a lot of time lost archiving.

So choose what you think is the best for you.
